Cape Associates Home Property Watch service checks over 130 homes in the off season. These inspections can be done weekly, biweekly or monthly, and the duration of the contract can be customized by you the homeowner.
When the home is checked the inspector walks around the exterior of the home looking for things such as loose roof and siding shingles, evidence of a break-in, or any damage that may have resulted from inclement weather.
When he goes inside the home, checking all the thermostats, looking for evidence of pests or animals getting into the home, looking for leaks, making sure that the windows and doors are locked, and the home is secure are some of the things he will do. If the water was left on he will check that the heating system is operating correctly, and check the fuel levels. Every room is inspected. There is a log at each home which is initialed upon the departure of the inspector.
There are certain circumstances in which the Home Property Watch inspections are done in addition to the standard times, when there are wind gusts are over 55 miles an hour, when there has been 10 inches of snow within a 24 hour period, over 2 inches of rain, or any other inclement weather that would necessitate property checks.
The Cape Associates Home Property Watch employees always use their best judgment when deciding if additional home checks are necessary, and you can always rest assured that your home is in good hands even when you are not there.
Check the Home Property Watch page on our website for weather updates.
Regular home property inspections are extremely important to help avoid a catastrophe. The inspector can spot potential problems and take measures to prevent them from happening.
Back at the office if contact with the customer is necessary the inspector makes phone calls or sends out an email. If a customer has requested work done on the home, contact with our employees or subcontractors is made and work on the home is scheduled.
The Home Property Watch employee carries a pager and can always be reached via cell phone during regular work hours for emergency situations.
