| Cape Associates, Inc. was established
in 1971 by Lester F. Langhans, Jr., a life-long builder who had
relocated to the Cape a year earlier. From three employees to
over sixty full-time, year ‘round employees, the company
has grown to be one of the largest builders on Cape Cod and the
second-largest employer in Eastham. In 1978 an office, warehouse
and shop encompassing over 5,000 square feet was constructed at
our present site in North Eastham. This facility houses a fully
equipped and staffed office, storage for our construction equipment
and vehicles, and a large heated shop for woodworking projects
and winter painting. Of significance to our customers, it also
allows us to store the records of our past jobs. In the fall of
2002, we opened our second office in Barnstable. Cape Associates
currently works all over Cape Cod, from our many projects in Provincetown
to Cotuit and Falmouth.
Cape Associates has been committed to employing
its own carpenters and painters. We feel this approach permits
the constant, effective communication between us and our customers
necessary for successful custom construction. Another advantage
to in-house employees is quality control through better coordination
and clear lines of responsibility. The employees of Cape Associates
take pride in their work and several have worked here for over
ten, fifteen, and even twenty years. Currently, there are more than
50 field employees consisting of foremen, journeymen carpenters,
apprentice carpenters, painters, a mason and a truck driver.

In the Cape Associates North Eastham office
. . .
Michael
H. Cole is the President. Mike is a graduate of the Cornell
University School of Engineering and started as a carpenter’s
helper in 1972.
Mark P. Kinnane
is the Vice President of Construction. Mark has risen through
the ranks since 1982, starting as a carpenter and becoming lead
foreman.
Robert P. Creonte
is a Senior Project Manager. Bob joined us in 1998 and has worked
on the Lower Cape in the construction industry for over 20 years.
Richard M. Bryant is a Project Manager. He joined Cape Associates in April 2004. He possesses an engineering degree, has 5 years experience in structural design and also has a strong construction background.
David P. Hedin is the Service Department Manager. Dave started over ten years
ago as the truck driver and has nurtured the Small Jobs and Home Watch business.
Steven N. Zayatz is the manager of the painting division and its ten employees.
Steve has been with Cape Associates since 1993 and has been painting
for many more years.
Robert G. Clark joined Cape Associates in September, 2000. He is the Office Accountant.
Lindsay J. Richards joined Cape Associates full time upon her graduation from Stonehill
College in 1999. She is the secretary-receptionist and payroll
clerk.
Peter E. Geiges joined
Cape Associates in 1997. He runs the Cape Associates Home Watch
Service and inspects over 100 homes in the off-season.
In the Cape Associates Barnstable Office . . .
William
F. Swift is the Senior Vice-President of Sales. Will was formerly
a builder in West Barnstable and joined Cape Associates as a Project
Manager in 1987.
Peter A. Kirchner is the Production Manager for the Barnstable office. Peter runs all of the building projects in that area.
