New England HOME – New & Noteworthy

Every year since 2001,Cape Associateshas built a playhouse any child would envy,donating it to a local charity that raffl es it offto raise money. The annual project has raisedmore than $97,000 for the community. Thisyear, the Eastham, Massachusetts, companydecided to take things a step further, enlist-ing the help of area architects by running acontest for the playhouse design. The winningdesign (voted on by visitors to Cape Associ-ates’s website) is this charming “Modern CapeSchoolhouse” from Boston-basedZeroEnergyDesign. Cape Cod Community College’s Edu-cational Foundation is this year’s benefi ciary.Two additional playhouses, designed by CapeAssociates staff, will be donated to the localPop Warner football team and the Province-town Fine Arts Work Center.
