FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Cape Associates awarded gold and silver in nationwide remodeler competition
EASTHAM, Mass.— Cape Associates, Inc. received Gold and Silver recognition in the 2014 Professional Remodeler Design Awards for its work improving the Centerville Public Library and a residential home in Provincetown.
A Gold award, in the category of Commercial Remodel, went to the Centerville Public Library project, under the direction of Executive Vice President Rich Bryant and designed by Brown, Lindquist, Fenuccio & Raber Architects in Yarmouthport. The library’s board of trustees asked for more program space, flexible multipurpose spaces, staff workspace, and collection space, as well as necessary additions to bring accessibility issues up to code. The project included a new 4,600-square-foot, two-story addition, renovations to 3,795 square feet of the existing structure, and a new outdoor terrace. Of course, the library needed to stay open throughout construction.
A Silver award, in the category of Whole House over $750,000, went to a project in Provincetown that revitalized a harborside row house, under direction from Senior Project Manager Trevor Meyer and designed by b Architecture Studio in Melrose. Once a sea captain’s home, this residential dwelling was divided into three apartments in the 1970s. The recent remodel undid the apartment-style layout to once again accommodate single-family living and restore the historic seaport character that had been eroded away.
Professional Remodeler uses an expert panel to evaluate and judge hundreds of remodeling projects from across the country based on quality, design, problem solving, and creativity. Awards will be presented at the Professional Remodeler Leaderships Awards, in Baltimore on October 23, 2014.
