The Sandbar House
Set along the Orleans waterfront, this in-progress custom home is designed to embrace the surrounding coastal landscape through clean architectural forms, natural cedar materials, and expansive water-facing living spaces. The residence combines traditional Cape-inspired massing with refined contemporary detailing, creating a warm and modern retreat carefully positioned to capture light, privacy, and sweeping inlet views.
Beyond the waterfront setting, the photos show how this Orleans home is organized. From above, a shingled house and a separate garage sit close to wide water and marsh.
Inside, exposed timber trusses rise over an open living room with a gas fireplace, while tall windows frame views of trees and water.
Other details visible in the photos:
• A kitchen with a long white island, wood-and-rattan stools and pendant lights
• Open wood shelving above the counter
• A floating wood stair with glass guard
• A light-wood cabinet and a framed coastal bottle print in the entry
• A bedroom with a sliding door that faces the inlet
Pale oak floors run through the main rooms, and large sliding doors link the living space to a deck. Because the project is still in progress, this page will continue to reflect the work as the house is finished on the Orleans waterfront.
