New Home, Orleans, MA

Cape Associates built this custom home in Orleans with Catalyst Architects, and photography was by Lara Kimmerer. The house has a gray shingled exterior with white trim, a gabled roof and two-story porches with railings on the front.

The covered ground-floor porch and the open deck above face a broad lawn. Black-framed windows and doors give the elevations a crisp look, and stepping stones lead through the grass.

A second elevation has an attached two-car garage with black doors, and the front door is black with a number beside it. A rail with cable infill at an upper deck looks toward the water, and an outdoor shower is built into the shingled wall.

Cedar shingles in a silvery tone cover the walls, and the white porch columns, railings and trim give the house a crisp, coastal look. Planting beds of grasses and flowering shrubs line the foundation, and a wide lawn surrounds the house.
