New Home, Orleans, MA

This new home in Orleans was built by Cape Associates with architect Peter McDonald. The cedar-shingled house has a steep front gable, a bronze-toned metal roof over the entry and a red front door, all set in woodland.

A curved gravel drive and a bluestone path lead to the house. A separate two-car garage has matching red doors and a pitched roof.

The backyard has:
• A rectangular swimming pool with a bluestone patio
• A pool house with a pergola, white columns and lounge chairs
• Black metal fencing around the pool
• Wide stepping stones across the lawn

Inside, the living area features a stone wall, wicker pendant lights, large windows and a comfortable seating group. A red-leaved tree and ornamental grasses soften the approach. The red doors, natural shingles and clean white trim give the house and its outbuildings a consistent, cheerful look across the property.
