New Home, Truro, MA

Photography by Dan Cutrona and Durston Sailor

Cape Associates built this new home in Truro with Neubauer Ennis, and the photography is by Dan Cutrona and Durston Sailor. The house is a long, low contemporary form clad in warm wood, with a planted roof above its upper level.

At dusk the home glows from within, with wide glass walls, a stepped entry path with small lights and a stair visible from outside. A multi-level elevation has a balcony with a cable rail facing the ocean.

Inside, rooms look straight onto the water through large openings. Shown are a living area with striped lounge chairs, a long dining table beside a wood-framed kitchen, built-in bunk beds that open to a deck, a soaking tub and an upper terrace with outdoor seating.

Materials include natural wood siding, large expanses of glass, stone floors and stained wood ceilings, all chosen for an exposed coastal site. The project shows how contemporary design can sit comfortably in Truro's open landscape.
