New Home, Truro, MA

Cape Associates built this new home in Truro with Wouter Boer Architects. The house is split into three narrow gabled volumes covered in weathered cedar shingles, and it looks out over dune grass and open land.

From the front, the central section has a small stoop and a light-filled entry. Narrow glass slots between the volumes frame views of the sky and the landscape.

Inside, the photos show:
• An open kitchen with a dark counter, wood floors and a dining table beside sliding glass doors
• A living room with large windows and a deck outside
• A built-in bookcase wall around three windows
• A bedroom with a window seat and balcony door
• A white stair with a wood rail

Truro's Outer Cape setting is full of rolling dunes and big sky. Cedar shingles will weather to silver gray over time, which helps the house blend into the grasses and sky around it.
