Major Renovation, Orleans, MA

Cape Associates carried out this major renovation in Orleans with AD Architects. An aerial view shows a rural property with several white-painted, gabled buildings, a covered porch, a swimming pool with a cover and a fenced lawn.

A separate gray-weathered barn with a standing-seam metal roof and a cupola has three garage doors, set on a gravel drive. A spiral staircase with dark metal treads appears inside the main house.

• A wide entry hall with light wood floors
• A lower-level bar area and game room
• A bedroom with a wood-beamed ceiling and a fireplace
• A home office with deep green walls
• A sitting room with a fireplace and large black-framed windows

The property is shown in open grounds, with a fence and wide lawns marking the edges. Inside, black window frames, wide wood floors and white walls give the renovated rooms a crisp feel against the older forms outside.
