Fireplaces

This gallery shows fireplaces that Cape Associates has built in Cape Cod homes, each one fitted to the room around it. The surrounds are made from several different materials.

• Fieldstone and stacked stone, some with a wood mantel
• Old brick with a rustic timber mantel
• Polished stone slab around a modern gas fireplace
• White painted mantel with a green stone surround
• Black-faced firebox in white paneling with built-in benches

Many are flanked by white built-in shelves and cabinets, with space for a television above or beside the opening, and some have wood floors that run right up to the hearth.

The living rooms around them show a coastal palette of white millwork, wood floors and soft furnishings. Glass doors, wall sconces and wall paneling complete the rooms, and the hearths are the focal point of each. The details suit rooms from a compact den to a large living space.
